Accessibility

Last updated: September 3, 2026

Note Hoard is designed for humans. We want everyone, including people who use screen readers, keyboard navigation, magnification, or other assistive technology, to be able to save, organize, and read their notes.

Our standard

We target WCAG 2.2 Level AA (the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines published by the W3C) for notehoard.com. This statement covers the Note Hoard website and web app; our iOS and Android apps are held to the same goal but are not covered by the testing described below.

What we do

  • A detailed accessibility audit of the public site was completed in September 2026, and fixes were shipped for every issue it found.
  • Automated accessibility checks (axe-core, against WCAG 2.x A and AA rules) run on every code change, in both light and dark themes, and block a release when they fail. Accessibility linting runs on all of our interface code.
  • The site supports visible keyboard focus, a skip-to-content link, reduced-motion preferences, and pausable videos, and it works in both a light and a dark theme.

Known limitations

We would rather be honest than impressive. Current gaps we know about:

  • Assistive-technology testing (for example, full screen-reader walkthroughs) is still in progress. Automated checks catch a lot, but not everything.
  • In the signed-in app, some ways of selecting notes in the list and grid views work best with a mouse or touch. Keyboard-friendly alternatives exist, and better ones are being worked on.
  • Sign-in (Clerk), the security check on our support form (Cloudflare Turnstile), and the embedded demo videos (YouTube) are provided by third parties. We test them and choose vendors that take accessibility seriously, but we cannot change their internals. The demo videos are silent screen recordings, and the notes they demonstrate are shown as readable text beside them.

Tell us what we missed

If anything on Note Hoard is hard or impossible for you to use, we genuinely want to know. Use the support form or email support@notehoard.com. Accessibility reports go to the front of the line, and we aim to respond within five business days.
